Objectives
          Robinson Understory Thinning Project

ELS provided Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) with forestry services to complete field work for a habitat improvement project. The Robinson Understory Thinning project followed a prudent harvest prescription to improve habitat and decrease forest fire fuels. The Robinson Canyon area had been in forest reserve for over 60 years prior to WDFW submitting a Habitat Improvement Plan for the thinning project to federal agencies. ELS completed work while not disturbing several hundred wintering elk and other sensitive wildlife. The terrain was very difficult and access was extremely limited during the project which ELS was able to accommodate. ELS demarcated unit boundaries, leave patches, wildlife trees, RMZ, steep slopes, and all leave trees following specific criteria established in the HIP.
