ELS was contracted by Weyerhaeuser Company to complete marine mammal monitoring during their vibratory and impact hammer pile-driving of two test piles at their export dock in Longview, Washington. Monitoring included two protected species observers from ELS being stationed near the area of injury to determine if pile-driving would need to be shut down to protect marine mammals that had moved into the area. ELS provided a follow-up memo with a summary of marine mammals observed, shutdowns required, and monitoring methods/deviations from the monitoring plan.
